2018 NFL Mock Draft: Baker Mayfield to Bills
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants actually won their final game of the regular season, and put their slot at No. 2 in real jeopardy. Luckily for them, the Indianapolis Colts also won their Week 17 matchup, allowing the Giants to clinch the second pick in April’s draft. With that pick, the Giants have to be thinking about selecting a quarterback, as new general manager Dave Gettleman looks to make a splash in his first draft with the G-Men.
If Rosen goes first overall, it is likely that Sam Darnold would be the second name off the board. Darnold has shown during his time at USC that he can make all the throws, even if he has been turnover prone this past season. The Trojans were still one of the better teams in the Pac-12 this season, and if Darnold does decide to turn pro, he is certain to be one of the first names called next April.
The Giants still have Eli Manning under contract, and it is a possibility they will hang on to him and allow him to groom the young quarterback. Manning did a nice job with Davis Webb this past season, but Webb is certainly not looked at as the future of the position in New York. Darnold has incredible star power, and one year playing behind Manning could wind up being the best thing that ever happened to him.
