Tiger Woods to make his 2018 debut at Torrey Pines
By Brad Weiss
Tiger Woods is looking to get his 2018 season off on the right foot, as he will open his year playing in the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.
Tiger Woods is still the biggest name in golf, no matter what young player tries to take the crown. Sure, players like Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, and Dustin Johnson can win any tournament they play in, but they do not bring the kind of excitement that Tiger does. Woods has not been able to consistently stay on the course since winning his last tournament back in 2015, but the hope is he can make a tremendous comeback in 2018.
Woods will open his 2018 season playing at Torrey Pines in the Farmers Insurance Open, which is scheduled to tee off on January 25. For Woods, he will be looking to piggyback on his solid start back in December, when he fired an eight-under par score to finish tied for ninth in the Hero World Challenge. Tiger is a seven-time winner at Torrey Pines, which was actually the site of his last Major title, which was the 2008 U.S. Open.
The 42-year old is the owner of 14 Major titles, which is good for second-best all-time behind Jack Nicklaus’ 18. Woods has appeared in only four tournaments since 2015, as four back surgeries have rendered him a much-lesser player than the one who dominanted the PGA Tour for so many years. The legend also plans to play in February at Riviera, which was the site of his first PGA start, when he was only 16-years old back in 1992.

It remains to be seen how this comeback will go for Woods, who did look a lot better during the Hero World Challenge back in December. If his back can hold up, and his knee, than he could go back to being one of the better players on tour. He will likely never be the player he once was, but most golf fans are hoping to see him donning that red shirt on Sundays in contention on a regular basis.
