With the ninth week of the college basketball season in the books, here’s what the AP Top 25 rankings might look like for Week 10.
Another crazy week of college basketball is in the books and there were even more upsets that rocked the nation. It seems fairly obvious that the 2017-18 season, and eventual NCAA Tournament, could be one of the most action-packed in recent memory.
It’s not that there are dominant teams riddled throughout the nation, rather there are just a handful of top contenders, but everyone else seems to be on the same level. Upsets happen every year and that’s not new to the sport, but this season seems even more vulnerable to the shocking losses to top teams.
In Week 9, four teams in the top-five and six in the top-10 fell. Some were upsets while others, such as Oklahoma’s loss at West Virginia, were battles between ranked foes. With conference play starting back up, we are going to see plenty of ranked matchups in the coming months. The Big 12 featured a few interesting battles, such as Kansas vs. Texas Tech, Kansas vs. TCU and that Oklahoma vs. West Virginia game.
The SEC has also been surprisingly intriguing with Kentucky losing to Tennessee and Auburn and Mississippi State pulling off upsets in Week 9. Could either of those teams be ranked in the Week 10 AP Top 25?
Don’t sleep on the ACC, though. Teams like Duke could be in trouble with two road losses already this season to unranked opponents. Also, North Carolina seems to be trending in the wrong direction after a loss to Virginia.
Let’s take a look at the Week 10 projections for the AP Top 25. There could be some surprises nearly the bottom of the rankings.
