Getting to better know the 2018 Oscars host, who will be hosting the Academy Awards for the second straight year in a row.

With the Hollywood Foreign Press handing out the 2018 Golden Globes to various winners from around the world, the eyes of awards season shift their way to the biggest show of the year, the 2018 Oscars. Although Seth Myers held his own in his first time hosting the Golden Globes, the Academy Awards will tap a seasoned late-night talk show host to act as the master of ceremonies this year.

Jimmy Kimmel of Jimmy Kimmel Live will be your host for the 2018 Oscars, marking his second stint as host of the show. In fact, Jimmy Kimmel was the host of the 2017 Oscars as well, making him the first to run the show in back-to-back years in the 21st century.

That puts Jimmy Kimmel in the esteemed company of a handful of entertainers to host the Oscars for multiple years in a row. That list includes Billy Crystal (1996 to 1997, plus as 1989 to 1992), Chevy Chase (1987 to 1988), Johnny Carson (1979 to 1982) and Bob Hope (four different multi-year stints).

Jimmy Kimmel is looking for his first controversy-free show as he hosts the 2018 Oscars. Last year saw the wrong film named as Best Picture, as Moonlight was the rightful winner. Warren Beatty, co-presenter of the award, had been handed the wrong award card when he read off La La Land, mistakingly naming that title Best Picture when, instead, he had been reading off the card for Best Actress.

Next: The Last Jedi will be the top-grossing movie of 2017

Seeing how Jimmy Kimmel is back at it again to host the 2018 Oscars without a break, the audience at home can expect to hear jokes relating to that mishap somewhere during the monologue, if not during whatever opening video the show will produce. Hopefully, things go much smoother for him this time!
