You’d think that spending thousands of dollars for a ticket would assure you of seeing every second of the action, but you might be wrong.
If we know one thing about the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, it’s that either Alabama or Georgia fans are going to be bummed out when the game ends late Monday night/early Tuesday morning. However, before the game even started, they were united in a misery of a very different kind.
According to ESPN sports business reporter Darren Rovell, fans faced longer than usual security lines that were moving very slowly — slow enough, in fact, that fans faced the very real possibility that they might not be seated in time for kickoff.
Adding to the unpleasantness was the fact that it was raining in Atlanta, so people waiting to get into Mercedes-Benz Stadium weren’t just irritated, they were also wet.
Story developing: Lines outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium are not moving. Taking at least hour to get inside at this point. At this pace, some will miss kickoff.

One of the issues facing security at the National Championship Game is that President Donald Trump is attending. Any time the president is in the house, security has to be ratcheted up a few notches, adding to the logistical problems getting everyone inside in a timely fashion.
At least some of the fans didn’t seem too thrilled about that part of the delay.

Of course, there’s only so much that can be done to expedite things like this, especially at an event like the National Championship Game that calls for tightened security, president or not.

But considering that some fans paid already paid nearly $5,000 to see Georgia and Alabama compete for this year’s title, you can understand why they’d be upset about waiting in the rain for an hour to get in and then not even being there when the first football flies.
Hopefully, the game will be epic enough that they’ll forget about the ordeal by halftime.
