A rainy night led to the roof at Mercedes-Benz Stadium leaking before the National Championship Game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs.
Over a billion dollars just doesn’t buy a stadium what it used to these days. To be fair, the Mercedes-Benz stadium in Atlanta has a giant hole in the middle, so it shouldn’t come as a shock that rain can find it’s way in, even if they can close the roof.
With the east coast getting destroyed by bad weather, Atlanta found itself on the wrong end of a storm. A National Championship Game is taking place there, and thus it was the perfect moment for a leak to arise.
According to Tim Tucker of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the roof is leaking and of course that means that some people are going to end up wet. Given the storm, it’s not surprising but yet at the same time it’s a brand new stadium.

Nonetheless, there are always these types of bugs with a new home and it appears that Atlanta is getting to deal with it on one of the biggest hosting nights of the year for them. Hopefully, it’s more of a drizzle and not a straight downpour right down onto the crowd.
Nonetheless, the rabidness of college fans won’t let a little water end up getting in the way of a good time. These two teams are set to play in an all-SEC Final, where the winner will take home a national championship and perhaps the lead in an SEC arms race going forward.
