For the first time since 2012, two SEC teams represent the National Championship Game of College Football. The SEC fatigue kills enthusiasm in the 2018 CFP Title Game.

The last time we saw two SEC teams — or two teams from the same conference in general — in the National Championship was 2012. Since then, the thought of another game like that happening was everyone’s nightmare. The SEC already gets it share of hatred, but having two teams compete for the title from the conference? Now that’s absurd. Which is why the SEC fatigue kills this National Championship Game.

Alabama and Georgia are respectively amazing teams and all, but you cannot have two teams from the same conference in the Playoff. Especially considering the committee left out the Big Ten Champions, Ohio State. The nation has heard enough about that controversy, but it doesn’t add up. Alabama is in over the Big Ten champs, and the Tide didn’t even go to Atlanta for the SEC Title Game. Instead, they were the runner-up. And now, they’re playing on the biggest stage in football.

That tweet alone describes the frustrating system that this Playoff consists of. The thing that makes this game, the National Championship, have lack of enthusiasm is because of the teams. If this game would have been Oklahoma vs. Alabama, or Georgia vs. Clemson, it would have a whole lot more meaning than basically just a second SEC Title Game. If you’re like most people, you live to see the SEC lose in every way shape and form. The thing that makes this game sting and draws attention away from people is simple: the SEC wins no matter what. Personally, this game was a huge turn-off for myself and most people just because of that.

As for Georgia, Alabama, and SEC “fans” in general, this game is glorious. A complete glowing beam of light right onto Mercedes-Benz Stadium. I’m sure they’re all loving this SEC attention because it’s going to be that way all the way up until 2018 kickoff. Overall, let’s hope this game is at least good. Can’t deny that these two teams are good, just stinks that they both represent the SEC and are better than Ohio State.
