Gamblers that took Alabama and gave up the points fell just short because of the lack of an overtime PAT in Monday night’s National Championship Game.
Betting spreads make all the difference when it comes to winning money for gamblers. For those that don’t wish to take the moneyline, receiving or giving points is the name of the game and the Alabama Crimson Tide’s victory over the Georgia Bulldogs in the National Championship Game had quite the impact as one would expect.
The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Georgia Bulldogs in an incredible overtime game on Monday night, 26-23. After trailing 20-7 at one point, the Tide went on a 19-3 run to end the game and bring home yet another National Championship.
For the Crimson Tide it was quite the comeback, that came courtesy of a quarterback switch from Jalen Hurts to Tua Tagovailoa. The latter came in and didn’t even flinch despite everything that Georgia threw at him.
In the end, his 41-yard bomb to DeVonta Smith was all the difference and the Crimson Tide came away with the victory. However, that three-point win definitely was going to leave an impact on the wallet of gamblers.

Leading up to the game, some sportsbookers were offering Alabama at -3.5 with some offering up to -5 total. Those that were lucky enough to get a spread lowered to -3.5 ultimately lost out regardless because of the fact that it was overtime.
With a walk-off touchdown, there was no extra point kicked and therefore the Crimson Tide did not cover. In essence, it was a great night for those that bet money on Georgia but not Bulldogs fans or those that bet on Alabama.
Gambling on the spread is always risky and the extra half point always seems to end up making a difference one way or the other. Once again, it made a difference in a big way in the 2018 National Championship Game.
