10. Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State

  • Date: Nov. 4
  • Outcome: OU wins 62-52

Whenever the Sooners and Pokes have met up in recent years, it’s usually with a lot at stake. For three of the past four years (entering this round of Bedlam), the Sooners and Cowboys were right in the thick of the Big 12 race, or actually decided the conference champion in that game.

With the Pokes finishing with a record of 10-3, they finished in third place in the conference and would have been able to take part in the Big 12 Championship Game if the Bedlam Game had turned more in their favor.

Yet, OU ended up winning Bedlam, the Big 12, and representing the conference in the Playoff. In Bedlam itself, OU entered with a No. 5 ranking, and Oklahoma State had a No. 11 ranking. Both teams had one loss and were well alive in the Playoff race. The loser would likely be eliminated from the race, though.

These two teams had two of the best offenses and individual quarterbacks in the nation. Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph was slightly outplayed by Mayfield and had a chance to win the game on a final drive within the final two minutes. But, Rudolph did not come through in the clutch while Mayfield did and that was the deciding factor in the 2017 edition of Bedlam.
