2. UCLA vs. Texas A&M
- Date: Sep. 3
- Outcome: UCLA wins 45-44
The UCLA Bruins pulled off the greatest comeback of the season. Texas A&M, and former head coach Kevin SumlinĀ became the victim of the comeback win for head coach Jim Moraās UCLA squad.
We got to witness the greatness of star junior UCLA quarterback Josh RosenĀ when heās at his very best. Rosen led a 35-point comeback in the second halfĀ when the Aggies seemed to be controlling both the pace of play and the clock.
The Aggies ended up splitting between two quarterbacks, Nick Starkel and Kellen Mond, due to an early ankle injury. Starkelās ankle injury threw in Mond when he was not prepared and he only completed three passes. Starkel would later win back his starting job, but it would not be until later in the regular season.
This game will go down as one of the all-time best comebacks in college football history, not just in this season alone. Mora and Sumlin entered this matchup on the hot seat and Mora likely saved his job for a few more weeks because of this victory. However, both coaches are now gone from each program.
