It’s another guard heavy round in the Euro league as we begin round 17. Where did some round 16 injuries open up value? Let’s check it out!
The Euro league is a different animal. It is much more halfcourt oriented than the NBA game. The games are also eight minutes shorter. There are 16 teams in the Euro League instead of 30. That means a more shallow player pool to choose from!

Guards:
There are a lot of guards worth playing as we kick off round 17. Nick Calathes, Nando de Colo, and Sergio Rodriguez all have matchups against the bottom quarter of the league against guards. Brad Wanamaker also has a solid matchup. Pierre Jackson is looking enticing with Norris Cole still out as well. Any of these five serve as good building points, which should give us plenty of lineup separation today.
I prefer Calathes because of his consistency and Jackson because he torched Bamberg for 55.25 DraftKings points in the first matchups, one of the largest totals in the Euro League this season. He also put up 44 last week in Cole’s first absence.
There are very few that I trust in the middle tier, but Daniel Hackett stands out. He has five straight rounds over 20 DraftKings points, and is far outdoing teammate Ricky Hickman. Cory Higgins has a good matchup, but it’s hard to rely on him with both de Colo and Sergio ahead of him in the pecking order.
The bargain tier kicks off once again with Matt Lojeski. Nikos Pappas outplayed him last round, but I still think that Lojeski is the safer pick. This is a good spot for them, but Calathes will be running the show. These guys are battling for second fiddle. Deandre Kane was good last round with Norris Cole out. He is a solid bargain as well.
Sam Van Rossom has been a bargain darling lately, but I don’t like the matchup with Istanbul. I still think ownership will be fairly high, whereas Kane may be more unnoticed and has a better shot at hitting 20 from this price range.
If you are looking to go really cheap, Maodo Lo has been very good off the bench for Bamberg lately. Marcus Denmon is producing quite a few points in limited minutes for Athens, but keep in mind that he played just nine minutes last round. He still wound up with 12 DraftKings points in that span though.
Forwards:
If you want to use anyone in the top tier of forwards, Dorell Wright is by far the top play. Jan Vesely has a bad matchup and is going to be a game time decision, which is even more dangerous in the Euro League than the NBA. The late swap helps, but the decision may not come down until five minutes before tip. Singleton, Clyburn, Gist, Hines, Seraphin, and Hanga all have matchups against forward defenses in the top five in the Euro League.
If you are going to use anyone from that tier other than Wright because of his inconsistency issues, it should probably be Clybourn. His matchup is the best, and he dropped 41 DraftKings points on Milan in the first meeting.
There are a lot of options in the middle tier. The best matchup goes to Arturas Gudaitis. He put up 22.5 DraftKings points in the first pass against CSKA Moscow. If his illness somehow forces him out, I am even higher on Clyburn.
Jonah Bolden and Tibor Pleiss have both played well lately. Bolden is no longer a value play at this price, and I am more inclined to lean towards the consistency of Pleiss for the same price. If you are looking for more value, the play of Bojan Dubljevic making him a very tempting option right now.
All things considered, I think Vesely will be in the game, but with James Nunnally out for at least a month, Nicolo Melli and Luigi Datome could both see significant run. Judging by recent performance, I would give the edge to Melli. However, if Vesely it out as well, both make solid value plays.
I would prefer to attack the frontcourt of CSKA tonight, who at 13th, are the worst team against forwards in action today. That means Vladimir Micov and Kaleb Tarczewski are both in play. Micov racked up 30.5 DraftKings points in the first meeting, and Tarczewski has been a consistent value play off the bench for Milan. If you are looking deeper, Mindaugas Kuzminskas put up 16.75 DraftKigns points in 23 minutes in his Euro League debut this year. I would actually prefer him over Tarczewski right now.
Aaron Doornekamp has put up back to back 20+ DraftKings points outings, and has a nice matchup against Istanbul tonight. All for the value price of $6,100. Aside from Kuzminskas, there isn’t much value tonight. If you want to stack two high priced guards, you are going to need help.
I don’t like the matchup for Jason Thompson, but wow, he had a round last week! He is worth a flier at $5,600 tonight even if he can do half of what he did last week, which would be 16.5 DraftKings points.
Don’t forget about Artsiom Parakhouski! If you rostered him last week, you made out very well. He has another nice matchup, and is the best value play going. Just be prepared for the secret to be out and ownership to be high.
