2. Inter Milan

Reports have surfaced regarding Inter Milan’s interest in bringing Sturridge in to back up Mauro Icardi as they battle for a top finish in Serie A. Inter are keen on obtaining a Champions League place for next season and they need depth to achieve that goal. Sturridge could be a great find for Inter as he is desperate for playing time and intent on proving himself ahead of the World Cup. Should the Italian side land the English striker, he could seriously help them close out the season on a high note.

As a result of Inter’s good position in Serie A — they’re currently third — they could be the most attractive landing spot in that aspect. The only concern would be consistent playing time. With Mauro Icardi having such a tremendous season, it’s hard to see Sturridge getting starting minutes. Unless Inter decide to play two strikers with Sturridge and Icardi together up top, Sturridge could likely spend a lot of time on the bench.

The Italians want a loan for Sturridge, which would make more sense than signing him outright. This could be beneficial for Sturridge as it gives him a chance to prove his worth to Jurgen Klopp ahead of next season. Needing to prove himself to Gareth Southgate ahead of the World Cup is the first priority, but proving himself to Klopp is a close second.

Inter are an attractive club to move to, and boss Luciano Spalletti could likely sell him on the club. But with questions about how much playing time Sturridge would actually get, a move to a Premier League club could be better, especially since he already knows the style of play in England and wouldn’t need to adjust.
