Have Andrew Bogut and Spencer Hawes been blacklisted from the NBA?
By Keith Parish
We at Fastbreak Breakfast love a good NBA conspiracy theory, even if there is no hard evidence to support our ideas.
The latest story to raise our suspicions was the Lakers releasing Andrew Bogut despite his salary being guaranteed and the fact that he started five games last month. Combined with the release earlier this season of Spencer Hawes (and his six million dollar guaranteed contract), that means the only two outspoken conservatives in the NBA have been cut! Is this a reverse Colin Kaepernick? Are GMs conspiring to keep open political discourse from happening? Are we really supposed to believe “basketball reasons” were the primary motivation behind these moves?!
Also covered on another unhinged new episode:
- Was the Isaiah Thomas clothesline of Andrew Wiggins a form of Cavaliers initiation?
- Are we running out of superlatives for what Manu Ginobili is currently doing over the age of 40? Is 40 the new 35?
- Is it feasible to allow Tyus Jones to remain as the primary point guard of the Timberwolves once Jeff Teague returns from injury?
- Has Dragan Bender finally showed signs that he’s ready to blossom? What elite statistical company did he join after his dominant performance against the Thunder?
- Listener question: “If you could select one player from a team’s past roster and insert them onto that team’s current roster, who would you select and why?”
- Are Bojan Bogdanovic and Bogdan Bogdanovic more similar than previously thought?
