2. Indiana Pacers
Hill spent five seasons with the Pacers before they traded him to the Utah Jazz at the end of the 2015-16 season. The team was looking for a change but Jeff Teague wasn’t the answer either and with the trade of Paul George the Pacers are in a very different place than they were in two years ago. With the ascendence of Victor Oladipo the Pacers are a playoff team again and the timeline on their rebuild appears to have shifted.
Darren Collison has been very steady for the Pacers this season but he doesn’t have the overall impact that Hill could provide. As good as he’s been Collison certainly seems like a stopgap. If the Pacers and Hill could mend fences, he’d offer more stability at point guard and make one of the best defensive backcourts in the league when paired with Oladipo.
Collison and Bojan Bogdanovic would combine to match salaries with Hill and both have just a fraction of their salaries guaranteed for next season, meaning the Kings could take both and essentially use this is a move to clear a huge amount of cap space. If Sacramento needed more enticement something like Glenn Robinson could be added to give them more stability on the wing.
