ESPN recently announced its plans to launch a television show hosted by Kobe Bryant.

Today at the TCA (Television Critics Association Press Tour), ESPN formally announced its plans to team up with Granity Studios to work on a new show. What’s so important about that? Graity Studios is Kobe Bryant’s studio. The new show — Detail — will be written, produced and hosted by the Black Mamba himself.

Even though Bryant retired from basketball just two short seasons ago, we knew he’d be back soon. While he may not be a coach or NBA executive, Bryant joins an elite list of former NBA stars in the entertainment business. On his new show, arguably the best scorer to ever play the game, will break down film from a game broadcasted on ESPN the day before. However, he’ll put his own twist on things.

Bryant’s show will give viewers another perspective into the game of basketball. He will break down film from a player’s perspective. His goal for the show is to teach young basketball players and coaches about how to break down film and view the game in a different way. Bryant attributes a lot of his success in the NBA to his ability to watch film.

Detail will act as a crash course on how to break down plays from a never before seen perspective. According to the ESPN press release, “viewers will experience unparalleled game observations from Bryant as if he were one of the players featured in an ESPN game played the day before.” The idea is fresh, unprecedented and must-see television from one of basketball’s greatest minds. The show will debut in March of 2018 on ESPN. Detail will run for 15 episodes through the end of the season — including the postseason — concluding with the NBA Finals.
