College Basketball Rankings: Projected Top 25 for Week 11
Honestly, Michigan State could see an ever steeper drop than six spots in the newest poll, but it all depends on whether or not the voters believe the Spartans are just going through a slump or if they aren’t as good as everyone thought. Michigan State needed overtime to beat Rutgers at home and then lost to in-state rival Michigan at the Breslin Center. It’s been a rough week for the Spartans, but Tom Izzo can get them through this.
Although Kansas may not be quite as dominant as it was a season ago when it had Frank Mason III and Josh Jackson, the Jayhawks may still find themselves competing for a No. 1 seed by the end of the year. Bill Self has been an incredible coach for the Jayhawks and can even make them competitive in a season which they don’t quite have the usual talent. Wins over Iowa State and Kansas State weren’t easy, but a major step in the right direction.
Yes, Texas Tech lost at Oklahoma in Week 10, but the Red Raiders bounced back to beat No. 2 West Virginia on Saturday and will either stay at No. 8 or even move up slightly. Since not many teams ahead of the Red Raiders lost and Oklahoma won two games against ranked teams, they will likely stay put. This team is playing as well as anyone in college basketball and their top-10 ranking is warranted.
Duke had a rough stretch, like most college basketball teams do, not too long ago, but it looks like the Blue Devils are right back on track. In fact, they blew Pittsburgh and Wake Forest out of the water in Week 10 and looked like the Blue Devils from the first month, or so, of the year. This team is as talented as any and will be in No. 1 seed contention by the end of the year.
Yes, Wichita State went unbeaten in Week 10 and the Shockers will likely drop a spot because they were tied at No. 5 overall and Purdue seemed to separate itself. The Shockers took care of East Carolina and Tulsa in Week 10 and they will have a tough road game against Houston on Saturday that could have serious implications on the American Athletic Conference title.
