Jalen Ramsey forgets Mike Mitchell’s name after his failed attempt at trash talk

PITTSBURGH, PA - JANUARY 14: Jalen Ramsey

After Mike Mitchell attempted to trash talk Jalen Ramsey before their game, the Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback didn’t let him off easy.

If you’re not a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, it had to feel good to see the Jacksonville Jaguars go into Heinz Field and beat the No. 2 seed on the road. Not only were they written off by experts, but by Steelers players themselves, as it was clear that many of them were looking ahead to playing the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

Perhaps the only thing that’s more cringeworthy than seeing the pre-game quotes about the Patriots is the attempted trash talk from the Steelers players. We knew that, having already won 30-9 at Heinz Field, the Jaguars weren’t going to be scared of this moment. That’s especially true for Jalen Ramsey, who is arguably the best cornerback in the NFL already in just his second year.

So when Mike Mitchell tried to intimidate him before the game, we knew it wasn’t going to end well for him and his Steelers. And after the Jaguars got the win, Ramsey proceeded to put Mitchell in a body bag:

Mike Mitchell already got attacked by the Jaguars’ Twitter account when they brilliantly dug up one of his old quotes looking ahead to the Patriots. And even though Mitchell can hardly be the only Steeler accused of doing that, perhaps his attempted trash talk at Ramsey was why the Jaguars Twitter went at him instead of, say, Le’Veon Bell who also disrespected his opponent.

Because, despite the loss, at least Bell had a great game, as he accounted for 155 offensive yards and two touchdowns. The same can’t be said about Mitchell or the Steelers’ defense, as they allowed 38 points to the Jaguars while giving up deep completions to Mark Sanchez 2.0.

After going one-and-done in the playoffs, the Steelers will have their work cut out for them if they want to get back to being a championship contender rather than ceding their spot to the Jaguars.
