OAKLAND, CA - DECEMBER 20: Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors is one of the biggest stars in the NBA, and already has his sights set on life after his career is over.

There is no doubt that Golden State Warriors star forward Kevin Durant is one of the more polarizing players in the NBA. Ever since entering the league, Durant has not only been one of the better players around, but has also been one of the more outspoken stars in the game. He has also beaten to his own drum, whether it was making the move to Golden State, or interacting with fans on Twitter.

Regardless of how you feel about him, Durant continues to grow as a player, and off the court, his bank account has been growing as well. He is one of the players in the league who really has their eyes on life after basketball, and has spent a lot of time getting in front of the right people when it comes to making investments. Recently, he has stated that he would not only like to be in charge of an NBA team one day, but that he would like to own one.

There is only one African-American team owner in the NBA currently, and that is Michael Jordan of the Charlotte Hornets. Like Durant, Jordan made most of his money through basketball and endorsements, but invested his money elsewhere to bring his net worth into another stratosphere. During his career, Jordan was a quiet assassin, who dominated the NBA in ways we had never seen before, and made the move to management after his illustrious career.

Durant has been interested in owning a team for a while now, but that has definitely taken on more steam since moving to the Bay Area. He has been able to invest in numerous tech companies, and that has helped him partner with people who have helped him diversify his portfolio. When the day comes that he looks to get involved in owning a team, he will likely have plenty of people he can call on to not only help him, but also go partners with to make the deal work.

For a league that is dominated by African-American players, there are not nearly enough involved in the front offices around the league. Durant is not the only star who has shown interest in owning, as LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers has also shown interest. They have battled each other on the court for many years, and maybe one day they can join up as teammates to actually own a franchise.
