Kyle Larson will get to see his newest sponsor right away, as it will be on the hood of the No. 42 to kick off Speedweeks.

Another part of the sponsorship package for Kyle Larson and his No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet was revealed on Tuesday, and it involves teammate Jamie McMurray as well.

The Ganassi camp announced that DC Solar was moving up to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series for this season to serve as a primary sponsor for both Larson and McMurray. The number of races involved in the deal was not announced, but the press release did state that the company would sponsor Larson for the Clash at Daytona in February.

Based in Larson’s home state of California, DC Solar is (perhaps obviously) a clean energy company that has sponsored Ganassi cars in the XFINITY Series in the past. It will continue to do so in 2018 for both Larson and McMurray, who will make starts in that series for the first time in five years.

It appears the drivers will sport reverse color schemes from each other when sporting the DC Solar colors in the NASCAR Cup Series:

“I’m really looking forward to representing DC Solar this season in the Cup series,” Larson said in a press release.” You can tell Jeff and Paulette are passionate about being here and about racing, so I’m excited to be a part of their first season in NASCAR’s premier series. I’ve won with them once in the truck series, so I’m hoping to repeat that a few times this year in Cup.”

Larson was in need of new sponsors after Target left his car — and NASCAR racing altogether — at the end of the 2017 season. Returning sponsor Credit One Bank is covering some of the season, beginning with the Daytona 500. The team has also teased a company that is “new to both team and sport” that will appear on the 42, but that’s obviously not DC Solar, so we can expect another announcement sooner or later.
