Everson Griffen’s reaction to Stefon Diggs TD is everything (video)
After Stefon Diggs scored the game winning touchdown Sunday, Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen was basically the same as a fan.
In the waning seconds of Sunday’s Divisional Round game against the New Orleans Saints, the Minnesota Vikings were simply trying to move into position for a potential game-winning field goal after Drew Brees led a second half comeback for New Orleans. But that plan changed as Stefon Diggs caught a pass from Case Keenum, and a 61-yard touchdown as time expired sent the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
There have been numerous videos all across social media showing Vikings’ fans reaction to the game-winning play, and the radio call from Paul Allen of KFAN radio is highly recommended for a neutral or Vikings-tilted observer. Keenum engaged the fans in a “SKOL” chant right on the field after the game, but on the Dan Patrick Show Monday morning he still found the whole thing hard to describe.
Along with being one of the best players on one of the best defenses in the league, Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen is one of the more loquacious players on the team. But on the sideline after Sunday’s game-winning play, even he struggled to find words.
Griffen’s wide-eyed look, stunned initial reaction and eventual “WTF” verbalization of what happened to end the game was an on-field display of what went on throughout U.S. Bank Stadium and during gatherings of Vikings’ fans everywhere. Saints fans probably also said “WTF”, but with a clearly negative connotation attached to rookie safety Marcus Williams’ actions on the play.

No matter where his career goes from here, Diggs has cemented his legacy in Vikings’ history and exorcised some playoff demons for the franchise with his touchdown catch and run. Griffen turned into a uniformed fan, if only for a moment.
