2018 NFL Mock Draft: Giants land Sam Darnold
By Brad Weiss
The Arizona Cardinals have been through some turmoil since their season ended, as they have lost two of the biggest names in the organization. First, head coach Bruce Arians announced his retirement right after the team’s stunning victory over the Seattle Seahawks on the road. Secondly, starting quarterback Carson Palmer announced his retirement a few days later, ending his run as the signal-caller for the Cardinals after a couple of seasons.
When it comes to the 2018 Cardinals, they do have some solid players returning. The defense is loaded with talent, and David Johnson should be back toting the rock after missing most of the season with a broken wrist. Star wideout Larry Fitzgerald is also coming back for another run, so the time has come for the team to draft their next franchise quarterback.
That player could be Baker Mayfield, who became the only former walk-on to win the Heisman Trophy during his time at Oklahoma. Mayfield is a dynamic player, who is the kind of leader that players really rely on to get things done in pressure situations. The Cardinals have the talent to be a contender in the NFC West next season, and Mayfield has that “it” factor that could make him a legend at the next level.
