2018 NFL Mock Draft: Giants land Sam Darnold
By Brad Weiss
The Indianapolis Colts are another team who struggled through a pitiful 2017 campaign, and saw their head coach fired at the end of the season. Chuck Pagano had a solid career as the head coach in Indy, but the team could not overcome the loss of star quarterback Andrew Luck this season. When all was said and done, the Colts had one of the worst records in all of football, and even Pagano could not avoid the axe this Winter.
Heading into next season, the team has a lot of holes to fill, but they are a talented unit. Recently it had been rumored that New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels would be getting the head coaching job, so that has to be considered good news for the franchise. McDaniels is one of the more coveted head coaching candidates in pro football, and has had incredible success with Tom Brady and company in New England.
The team expects to have Luck back next season, but there is still a cloud of doubt hanging over that. Still, if he is healthy, they are set on offense, and could use this third overall pick on a player to help with the pass rush. Bradley Chubb is the best player in this draft class at getting after the quarterback, and in an AFC South with guys like Deshaun Watson and Marcus Mariota playing quarterback, putting pressure on the quarterback is priority No. 1 on defense.
