2018 NFL Mock Draft: Giants land Sam Darnold
By Brad Weiss
The Denver Broncos made a commitment to head coach Vance Joseph a couple weeks back, ending any speculation that he may be out after only one season in charge. With backing behind him, he can start to look towards fixing this roster, which has so many holes heading into next season. The quarterback position is a mess, as is the offensive line, and that is the area where they should use this early draft pick on.
Last year, the Broncos spent a first round pick on an offensive tackle, and Garett Bolles ended up being a very reliable player up front. With their first round pick in 2018, they should look to bring in somebody for the interior of that line, specifically at the guard position. Quenton Nelson is not only the best guard in this draft class, but he is arguably the best offensive lineman as well, and would be a solid fit for the Broncos up front.
Nelson teamed with Mike McGlinchey to give the Notre Dame Fighting Irish the best offensive line in the country in 2017, and he should be an elite player at the next level. Having good guard play is so huge in the NFL, and his addition would help C.J. Anderson continue to develop, as he was one of the better rushers in the AFC this past season. The Broncos have a long road ahead of them if they want to get back to the top of the AFC West, but starting at the offensive line is always a good way to go.
