Inter Milan host Roma at San Siro Stadium on Sunday in one of the best games in Europe this weekend. Three points separate third place Inter and fifth place Roma, who have played one game fewer than the teams ahead of them in Serie A.
Inter dropped points for the fifth straight game, putting the club eight points behind Juventus and nine points behind Napoli. In their last game, Inter needed a second-half goal from Mauro Icardi to settle for a draw against Fiorentina. Icardi is having one of the best seasons of any striker in Europe, scoring 18 goals in Serie A this year. However, outside of Icardi and Ivan Perisic, Inter have struggled to score goals. Defensively, only Roma and Napoli have allowed fewer goals.
Roma dropped their last game 2-1 against Atalanta. The loss was Roma’s second in their past three games, dropping the club one point behind city rivals Lazio. While Edin Dzeko leads the club with nine goals, Roma are middle of the pack this season with 30 goals. Defensively, only first place Napoli have allowed fewer goals. Radja Nainggolan has been the driving force for Roma in midfield, however, the Belgium midfielder is rumored to be making a move during the transfer window. Nainggolan has been linked to a potential move to China if he is unable to find a home in the Premier League.
