Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Hurts has shed his signature blonde locks after winning the 2017 National Championship over the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are once again the kings of college football. Alabama just won the 2017 National Championship over the Georgia Bulldogs in overtime earlier this month. This was Alabama’s second title in three years and five in nine years during the Nick Saban era in Tuscaloosa. While he wasn’t great in the national championship, the Crimson Tide wouldn’t have made the playoff without dual-threat quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Hurts is coming off a solid true sophomore campaign, one in which Alabama lost just one game. That was to the arch rival Auburn Tigers in the 2017 Iron Bowl down on The Plains. Though Hurts was benched in the second half of the national championship in favor of true freshman Hawaiian southpaw Tua Tagovailoa, Hurts remains in good spirits. He also cut off his signature blonde locks this weekend. Wait, what?

Yes, Hurts did shed his signature dreadlocks this offseason. He looks like a completely different person without them. We have gotten so accustomed to those blonde locks jingling out of the back of his crimson helmet while he extends plays with his legs for years. Though his dual-threat playmaking abilities remain, long gone are Hurts signature locks.

Alabama will be one of the favorites to get back to the College Football Playoff and win the 2018 National Championship. The Crimson Tide’s biggest question next season is honestly a good problem to have: Who starts at quarterback? True junior Hurts or true sophomore Tagovailoa?

Frankly, it really doesn’t matter, as Alabama will win with defense and pounding the rock again next year. The Crimson Tide will have running back Damien Harris back as the lead back. Whether is it a clean-cut Hurts or a brilliant lefty Tagovailoa leading the charge, expect Alabama to win 12 or more games next year. It’s good to be the Crimson Tide.
