WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore has been suspended after being accused of sexual assault.
WWE superstar and current Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore, whose real name is Eric Arndt, has been suspended by the company amid allegations of sexual assault.
First reported by Pro Wrestling Sheet, a woman who did not want to be identified came forward Monday morning on Twitter with a detailed version of the alleged assault that she says took place in a Phoenix-area hotel room last October involving Enzo Amore and two others.
WARNING: THE FOLLOWING DETAILS ARE VERY GRAPHIC AND MAY MAKE MANY UNCOMFORTABLE. SOME EXPLETIVES HAVE BEEN EDITED.
Here is the statement that the woman released in its original form:
"“OKAY..it’s been long enough & I have been so so scared to share this. I was raped in mid October by the WWE Enzo Amore (also known as Eric Arden) & Tyler Grosso & TOOPOOR let it happen as accomplices. I was in a mental hospital for 45 days after it. They ARE NOT good people.“The original question TOOPOOR asked me was if I would suck Enzo’s d**k. I said possibly but if I wasn’t down she said we could all just hang out. Then they got me way f**ked up & they left knowing what was about to happen. When Enzo the WWE guy stared coming on to me I was passed out on the couch. I said “I want to get to know you first before doing anything.” He replied, “Bitch I have 1 million followers on instagram…you should be begging for this d**k.” & then he restrained me & it happened. I never would be this dramatic about something like this but I want you all to know that I would’ve left if I could. I was in psychosis- I had no idea what was going on. I remember bits &pieces & I have constant flashbacks..My mental issues have been the worst ever & i suffer from major PTSD from it.”"
It has been confirmed by the Phoenix Police Department that a file has been claimed against Amore and the investigation remains open. Amore was scheduled to appear on the 25th anniversary episode of Monday Night RAW tonight in Brooklyn and was also scheduled to defend the WWE Cruiserweight Championship this Sunday at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in Philadelphia. However, amid the allegations, WWE has chosen to suspend Amore and released a statement on Monday afternoon.
"“WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving sexual harassment or sexual assault. Until this matter is resolved, Eric Arndt (aka Enzo Amore) has been suspended.”"
Amore was signed to WWE in 2012 and spent a few years in developmental before making his main roster debut with the company in 2016. After splitting with his longtime tag team partner, Big Cass, he won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship in September 2017 and has become the face of the division in the ensuing months.
Amore has had a reputation of being somewhat difficult backstage, and there have been many stories of his partying and ego getting out of control, including being kicked off a tour bus and having to now dress separately from the other WWE superstars in the locker room.
