NBA Power Rankings: The Clippers keep coming
By Daniel Lewis
The Knicks won their third game this season against the team across the East River, defeating the Nets on Monday, 119-104. Kristaps Porzingis had 26 points, and Michael Beasley had 23 points off the bench, as the Knicks were able to hold the Nets to 37 percent shooting from the field. The Knicks were without Tim Hardaway Jr., who sat out after having played 33 minutes on Sunday in the Knicks loss to the Pelicans, in anticipation of the Knicks longest stretch of road games this season. They started their road trip with a loss, 105-99, to the Grizzlies. They were down, 102-99, awaiting a jump ball when Courtney Lee was called for a technical foul after exchanging words with Dillon Brooks, and they didn’t score again.
Hardaway had himself a great game against the Utah Jazz in a nationally televised game, scoring 31 points in a 117-115 victory. The Knicks were able to hold off the Jazz, who went on a late 11-2 run, but the Jazz ran out of time. The Lakers didn’t need any extra time to beat the Knicks on Sunday, ringing up 127 points to win by twenty in Los Angeles. The Knicks struggled with turnovers, and had a tough time keeping L.A. off the offensive glass, where the Lakers had 12 boards. That’s 12 losses in their last 16 games for the Knicks, who could use a couple wins in a bad way right now.
