NBA Power Rankings: The Clippers keep coming
By Daniel Lewis
The Jazz lost at home to the Pacers to start the week, failing to get the crowd involved in the game and plodding away to a 109-94 loss. Donovan Mitchell had 23 points, but Derrick Favors and Rodney Hood were the only other Jazzmen to score in double-figures as they played another shaky game. Without Rudy Gobert on the court, the Jazz have to have their defense moving on a string, and they didn’t communicate well against one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the league. They didn’t need their defense to beat the Sacramento Kings, with Donovan Mitchell dropping 34 points in a 120-105 win on the road. Rodney Hood had 25 points off the bench, ignoring the trade rumors that popped up about him recently.
The Jazz were glad to see Rudy Gobert back in the lineup, with their star center returning for their game on Friday against the Knicks. The Jazz nearly rallied to tie the game late, but missed three different 3-point shots within an eight-second span on one possession that would have tied the game at 115. The Jazz figured out something on offense — or perhaps they caught the Clippers on an off night — in their win Saturday, capturing a 125-113 victory over Los Angeles. They were moving the ball around nicely, and all of their starters finished in double-figures for points.
