NBA Power Rankings: The Clippers keep coming
By Daniel Lewis
The Grizzlies had a spectacular offensive performance on Monday against the Lakers, running out to a 99-77 lead after three quarters on their way to a 123-114 win at home. Dillon Brooks had 19 points to lead the Grizzlies in scoring, but they had seven other players finish with double digit points on a night where they almost finished in the 50/40/90 club as a team. Brooks had a role in a pivotal moment in the Grizzlies game Wednesday against the Knicks, drawing a technical foul against Courtney Lee with a few seconds remaining and a three point lead. They made their free throws and pulled out a 105-99 lead, managing to find a win without Marc Gasol, who missed the game due to an illness.
The Grizzlies were able to celebrate Zach Randolph’s tenure with them when the power forward returned to Memphis with the Sacramento Kings, showing a video tribute during the game but making sure he left the arena with a loss. Ben McLemore had one of his best games of this season with 21 points, and Gasol was healthy enough to play 27 minutes, although he just had 6 points and 8 rebounds. Wayne Selden has his best game as a professional Saturday against the Pelicans, who literally caught fire for a career-high 31 points. But hey, he’d probably trade 20 of those points for the outcome to be different, with the Grizzlies losing 111-104 on the road to drop to 16-29.
