2018 NFL Mock Draft: Josh Allen goes to the Jets
By Brad Weiss
In our latest 2018 NFL Mock Draft, quarterbacks go early, as both the New York Jets and Giants grab their signal-caller for the future.
With Championship Sunday in the rearview mirror, and the teams set for Super Bowl LII, we dive into our latest 2018 NFL Mock Draft. The top-30 picks in the draft are set in stone, for now, though trades always seem to impact the first round. There are a bunch of teams at the top of the draft who need a quarterback, and signal-callers could be flying off the board next April.
With their terrible 0-16 season, the Cleveland Browns have once again locked up the No. 1 overall pick in the first round. Last year, they decided to pick a defensive player, bringing in stud defensive end Myles Garrett. Look for Cleveland to bolster their offense in the first round in 2018, as they pick twice in the first four picks. Here is our latest 2018 NFL Mock Draft.
The Cleveland Browns will pick first overall in April, as they locked up the selection by going 0-16 in 2017. While they joined the Detroit Lions as the only two teams in NFL history to go through a 16-game season without a win, their future is not as bleak as some may think. They hired a very good general manager in John Dorsey this offseason, and they do pick twice in the first four picks of the first round.
With their first pick in 2018, the Browns have to be looking at the quarterback position. They have made some terrible decisions with the position in recent years, and have really not had a franchise quarterback since Bernie Kosar was playing for the now-Baltimore Ravens. The first selection will likely be a signal-caller, and Josh Rosen from UCLA is the most NFL ready of the bunch.
Rosen was a star during his time with the Bruins, showing the kind of poise you look for in a franchise guy. While his decision-making has come under fire, he has the arm talent to make all the throws, and the Browns do have an elite talent in Josh Gordon at wideout. The Browns went defense with the first overall pick last year, selecting defensive end Myles Garrett from Texas A&M, and they will use their two first-rounders this year bolstering the other side of the ball.
