Florida State Seminoles quarterback Deondre Francois was involved in a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend but no charges were filed.
Tallahassee police investigated a domestic violence incident that took place at the residence of Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois involving him and his pregnant girlfriend.
According to the police report, Francois called the police to his off-campus apartment where he and his girlfriend have lived the last few months. The two parties provided radically different accounts of what happened in the early morning hours on Wednesday.
Francois’s girlfriend said an angered Francois broke down a door and caused a cut to her forearm after he picked her up and threw her down.
Francois contends he was trying to diffuse the situation. He says he called the police after his girlfriend was breaking things alleges the woman started the fight and that she cut her forearm after she broke a vase. He told the police that his girlfriend was destroying property, including trying to rip a television off the wall, which is when Francois said he picked her up.
Francois’ friend Zaquandre White was present at the time of the incident and provided police with a written report confirming Francois’ account of what happened.
The responding officer, Tri Dinh wrote due to the conflicting statements and lack of independent witnesses there was no probable cause to make an arrest for battery.
Further, Dinh notes Francois’ girlfriend said she didn’t want to press charges, but she wanted the officer to speak to Francois to scare him a little. She also asked the officer if Francois would get in trouble for smoking weed, although there is no other mention of marijuana in the report.

In my non-expert opinion, it sounds like nothing more is going to come of this, now that the case is closed and inactive, according to Tallahassee’s ABC 27.
Francois missed the rest of the season last year after he suffered a torn Patella tendon in the season-opening loss to Alabama. Florida State struggled mightily without Francois, so they’re certainly counting on him being healthy and available for the team in 2018.
