Warriors’ guard Klay Thompson was chowing down on a delicious-looking snack after his team’s 123-112 win over New York last night. But what was he eating?
Basketball is a physically demanding sport. The constant running and jumping takes a toll on the body, burns a lot of calories, and can certainly work up an appetite.
Klay Thompson logged 34 minutes of action in the Warrior’s win over the Knicks last night. According to the calories burned calculator on HealthStatus.com, this is enough activity for a 6-foot-7, 215-pound, 27-year-old man to burn approximately 607 calories.
No wonder why he entered the post-game press conference munching on a delicious-looking snack.

He was immediately asked by a reporter what he was eating, to which Thompson replied he wasn’t quite sure “but it’s really good though.” Way to leave us hanging, Klay.
It must have been really good, judging by the way Klay paid more attention to his sandwich than his post-game question and answer session with the media. He audibly “mmmm’s” and smacked his lips, taunting reporters and viewers with his snack.
But what was it? We have to know!
Approximately 25 seconds into the video you can clearly hear someone say “it’s Texas Toast.” This gives us a good place to start, assuming the disembodied voice is, in fact, correct.
It’s well-known that NBA players have an obsession with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but we’re going to rule that out for Klay’s post-game snack. There’s no reason why he wouldn’t just tell the reporters it was a PB&J at the beginning of his interview, instead of making us guess.
We’re going to choose to believe what we have heard from Klay; he doesn’t know what it is, and also believe the unidentified man identifying the bread as Texas Toast.
So, what’s in between the thick slices of toasty bread? We know it’s delicious, and we know Klay Thompson can’t identify it. We’re also pretty sure it’s not peanut butter, but from the looks of it it is some kind of dark brown spread.

Nutella.
Klay Thompson was eating a delicious Nutella-on-Texas-Toast post-game snack.
According to FatSecret.com, there are 86 calories in a slice of Texas Toast and 200 calories per serving (2 tablespoons) of the chocolate-hazelnut spread. So, two servings of Nutella and two slices of Texas Toast is just about all Klay needs to replenish his body after the effort he put out in last night’s win.
Not a bad way to recover from a tough night of basketball.
