Details about the next stages of the qualifying process for the first season of the NBA 2K League are now firm.
With NBA 2K players around the world currently trying to collect the magic number of 50 Pro-Am wins, it’s now clear exactly what the next steps on the road to NBA 2K glory could be for those who qualify.
The NBA 2K League announced earlier on Thursday that the NBA 2K League Combine will take place on Feb. 2-21. The intent of the combine is to determine which of the thousands of qualifiers will actually be eligible for the draft.
The pool of draftees has also been expanded to 102 players, a move that the league says was made to allow the 17 teams some flexibility in their rosters. Each team will draft six players.
The combine will auto-populate in the game’s menu for all PS4 and X-Box One players who got the necessary 50 Pro-Am wins during January. Games must be completed during the pre-set windows. The details on those windows can be found on NBA2kLeague.com.
To become one of the 102 players who will be culled from the thousands of qualifiers, players will have to do more than simply win a preset number of games. How players play the games will be just as if not more important than the final scores. League officials will cull through both advanced and simple stats from the combine games. Among them are not only points, rebounds and assists, but shot release time, pass to assist and shot block efficiency.

This spring 102 players will make video game history by becoming the first people to get paid to play NBA 2K competitively on a stage promoted by the NBA. Getting to that point will require those players to be on top of their games in the coming combine.
