Le’Veon Bell is one of the best running backs in the NFL, and the Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be headed towards a new contract with him this offseason.
During the 2017 NFL season, Pittsburgh Steelers star running back Le’Veon Bell played under the franchise tag. As the team heads into the offseason, it is clear Bell is a priority, and they seem to be making progress on a new contract. Bell has said he does not want to play under the franchise tag again this season, and locking him up long-term seems like smart thing to do for the Steelers moving forward.
The Arizona Cardinals named Steve Wilks their new head coach this week, and on Wednesday, they saw their defensive coordinator leave for New York. James Bettcher was named the New York Giants defensive coordinator on Wednesday, as he replaces Steve Spagnuolo in that role. New head coach Pat Shurmur will be inheriting a team that went 3-13 last season, so it is no big surprise that he has decided to bring in his own guys to fill such important roles.
During their NFC Wild Card Round game against the New Orleans Saints, the Carolina Panthers saw star quarterback Cam Newton take a wicked hit to the head. While Newton looked to be concussed on the hit, he was inserted back into the game, and some believed the Panthers had violated the NFL’s Concussion Protocol. However, the NFL ruled they were not in violation on Wednesday, though that is hard to believe considering the hit he took in the Panthers loss.
During his time as head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Hue Jackson has not only been the offensive coordinator, but he has also been the play caller. Well, that is about to change, as new offensive coordinator Todd Haley will handle those duties from now on. Haley was a huge signing for the Browns this offseason, and after leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to the playoffs as their OC, he now has the challenge of making the Browns relevant for the first time in a long time.
