New season, new game mode and a new system coming soon to Battlefront II.

Those who stuck with Star Wars Battlefront II past the controversy, microtranscations and gamer rage were able to truly experience the revamp that the former Battlefront never managed to be — a beautifully rendered Star Wars game full of both players and fresh activities.

In order to do this, EA decided to implement two things in Battlefront II: free DLC and content seasons. Throughout the month of December, the game ran its first season all themed around The Last Jedi movie release, with weekly faction challenges. A free addition to the single-player campaign was also released during this time.

Now, season one of Battlefront II is coming to a close and to answer the inevitable question of, “What comes next?” the game has announced planned updates to go live in the next few months.

In February, a new game mode called Jetpack Cargo will be added. Details past the fact that it involves two teams of eight (and of course, jetpacks) are sparse, but EA’s official announcement did mention that the mode would only be around for a limited time.

A new game progression system is also in development. Almost certainly as a result of the public outcry that occurred around the game’s initial release, Battlefront II developers have been attempting to pinpoint and make changes to aspects of the game that annoyed players the most. As such, EA’s announcement heavily emphasized the big role that player feedback had in the changes they are working on. More details on this new system will come in March.

And finally, a new season is on its way which Battlefront II promises will be better than the first thanks to their learnings from the first one. No other details beyond that were included in the announcement, other than the fact that more information will be coming “soon.”

To those playing and sticking with this game, it’s clear EA still cares about you and for that we are glad. May the Force continue to be with you as Battlefront II continues to live.
