Porter would be a very interesting fit for the Suns, who could use some diversification for their offense. Currently, they rely far too much on third-year sensation Devin Booker, who famously scored 70 points against the Boston Celtics last season. He has little help outside of old-school scorer T.J. Warren, but Porter could change that.
The Missouri freshman could bring new life to Phoenix’s offense, combining with just about any of the Suns core youngsters to create matchup problems for opposing team defenses. Warren and Porter are both bigger forwards, and they could play together against more traditional or less athletic lineups. On the other hand, Porter could also play with 2017 first-rounder Josh Jackson and truly throw opposing defenses a curveball.
Porter could even play the stretch power forward spot next to a rim-runner like veteran Tyson Chandler, spotting up when the ball is in Booker or Jackson’s hands.
Phoenix needs shooting and scoring, anything to lighten the load Booker has to carry each night. Porter can do bring that for them.
