NHL Skills Competition: P.K. Subban proves he’s the best, throws glove at Henrik Lundqvist (Video)
Hockey fans should already love P.K. Subban for what he does on and off the ice, but they’ll appreciate the Nashville Predators star more after this move.
P.K. Subban has emerged over the years as one of hockey’s most entertaining players to watch, whether it’s his scoring as a defenseman on the ice or his charitable work off of it. Most already like what the Nashville Predators star does for the sport, but he showed exactly why you should love him at the Skills Competition on Saturday night in Tampa.
Subban participated in the Shootout Challenge in this year’s Skills Competition and did not disappoint with his work on the breakaway. With New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist in net, Subban rolled on down towards the net with a few tricks up his sleeve.
The Predators defenseman looked like he was going in on any regular shootout, but decided to break the rules a little bit on his way. With Lundqvist waiting for any tricks with the stick and the puck, Subban pulled out a shortcut and threw his glove at the net to distract the Rangers goalie.
Unfortunately for Subban, the glove throw wasn’t quite enough to score on one of the league’s best goalies, as Subban’s shot never found the back of the net.

Obviously, the Skills Competition at NHL All-Star Weekend doesn’t exactly mean much of anything, with players just looking to put on a show. Some will pull out some fun moves over the weekend in their respective competitions, or even in the All-Star Game itself, but it may be tough to top Subban’s tricks from Saturday night.
If you didn’t love Subban before his work in the Shootout Challenge, hopefully, you now understand why everyone else following the sport of hockey does so much.
