Shinsuke Nakamura won the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble and punched his ticket to the main event of WrestleMania.

The 2018 WWE Royal Rumble got started off in a wild fashion. Aiden English introduced everyone to Rusev, who was the No. 1 entrant in the match. Not to be outdone, Finn Balor made an electric entrance as the second entrant.

From there, the Royal Rumble immediately devolved into chaos. After Rhyno was the first entrant eliminated, Baron Corbin would be eliminated as well by Finn Balor. He would proceed to attack everyone ringside, including Heath Slater during his entrance.

With everyone outside the ring, Elias would have the crowd walk with him as he made his way to the ring. Before he could finish his song, he was interrupted by the No. 7 entrant, Andrade Almas.

Each entrant would proceed to beat down Heath Slater on the way down to the ring, except for Big E, who fed him pancakes. While the ring began to fill up with competitors, Tye Dillinger was unable to make his entrance at No. 10.

Backstage he was attacked by both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, the latter of which took his spot in the rumble. However, Zayn’s theft was short-lived when Shinsuke Nakamura entered at No. 14 and eliminated Zayn from the match.

As Nakamura made a grand entrance, Kofi Kingston had his annual save of the year. He would land outside, but Big E. would place a plate of pancakes under his foot before it could touch the ground. Big E. and Xavier Woods launched him back into the ring as a human pogo stick before being shortly eliminated.

Things would get Woken in Philadelphia, as Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy would team up to eliminate Rusev. While the two were entertaining each other in weird fashion, business would pick up with the entrance of Dolph Ziggler.

There were a couple of surprise entrants in the 20s as well. Both The Hurricane and Rey Mysterio would make their returns. Mysterio made an immediate impact, whereas The Hurricane would be quickly eliminated by John Cena.

Another NXT superstar would get in on the action as well, as Adam Cole made his Royal Rumble debut. His debut was short-lived though, with Rey Mysterio eliminating him. Mysterio would continue to entertain the crowd as he delivered the 619 to The Miz.

It would continue to be a bad night for The Miz, as Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins teamed up to eliminate him. However, Rollins was caught off guard by Reigns quickly eliminating him.

Finally, No. 30 would make his way to the ring with Dolph Ziggler entering the action, As the field narrowed down, Ziggler would be quickly eliminated by Finn Balor and Randy Orton would be thrown out by Roman Reigns. After delivering an amazing double 619 to Cena and Reigns, Mysterio would be eliminated by Balor, who was still in the ring after entering at the No. 2 spot.

The final four would be set, as Balor, Nakamura, Reigns and Cena were left. Cena and Reigns would have a stare down, but not before getting attacked by Nakamura and Balor.

Cena would make the first elimination of the final four by throwing Balor outside of the ring. Reigns and Cena would brawl in the ring, but a failed spear attempt led to an AA from the latter to the former.

The final two would be in play after Nakamura knocked Cena off the apron. Nakamura and Reigns would fight for the right to main event WrestleMania. Both would exchange punches in the center of the ring. Reigns would land a huge superman punch to the competitor. Reigns thought he had Nakamura eliminated, but the latter would hold onto the ropes.

From there, things got intense as Nakamura held a triangle locked in while hanging over the ground. Reigns would lift him back in to deliver a devastating powerbomb. Reigns would set up Nakamura for a spear but got caught with a knee.

Nakamura would get fired up but ran straight into a spear. Reigns would carry Nakamura over to the ropes, but couldn’t get it done. As Reigns went for one more spear, a big kick to the head would give Nakamura the momentum to throw him over the ropes, as he won the 2018 Royal Rumble. After the match, he announced he would face A.J. Styles at WrestleMania.
