Many are wondering what the rules will be for the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match on Sunday in Philadelphia, and we’re here to help.
For the first time in WWE history, wrestling fans will be treated to a Women’s Royal Rumble match at the 2018 Royal Rumble on Sunday in Philadelphia. While everyone is excited about the historic night for the Women’s Revolution that the company has been pushing, there has also been plenty of confusion about the rules for the match.
A few weeks ago, after the announcement for the match, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle stepped into the ring and clarified things for everyone looking for answers, and made things very simple in the process.
As Angle said, this Rumble match will be exactly the same as the Men’s Rumble happening later on in the night. That means that there will be 30 women entering the ring for the match, and 29 of them will need to be thrown over the top rope, with their feet hitting the floor, to be eliminated from the match.
The winner of the match will get a shot at their brand’s women’s title at WrestleMania, likely facing either Charlotte or Alexa Bliss depending on the next few months of action on the Road to WrestleMania.

The biggest surprise in all of this is the number of women in the match, as it guarantees that WWE fans will be in for some shocking entrants into the match given the smaller number of women on the roster. Fans could see the likes of Lita, Trish Stratus or plenty of other legends step into the ring, or even the rumored debut of Ronda Rousey in a WWE ring.
In the end, this will be a historic night, and it’s cool to see WWE putting the same rules in place for both the men and women on this big night in Philadelphia.
