The Step Back’s 2018 NBA Draft Big Board: Version 3.0
College basketball is in the thick of the conference schedule, and that means it’s time for statement games from the prospects who will headline the 2018 NBA Draft in June. Almost nightly, this draft class produces a performance or two that the last few classes could only dream of matching. Whether it’s Trae Young going for 40 points, Marvin Bagley or DeAndre Ayton posting 20 points and 15 rebounds or Jevon Carter dominating with six steals from West Virginia’s press, the numerical outputs from this year’s class are incredibly exciting.
This class has a strong top level, with as many as seven players who would have a reasonable case to be a top-three pick in most years. The big class is strong, and there is a strong group of wing prospects lower in the draft that could potentially produce a few valuable rotation wings. The point guard class doesn’t look deep, but in Collin Sexton and Trae Young, who faced off this weekend, there’s two very enticing prospects headlining the group.
As we head into February, the class should continue to take form. Expect a few more players to make statements as we wrap up the regular season, and expect some hot streaks to cool off, as well. For now, though, here’s who to keep an eye on as teams start looking ahead towards June.
