2018 Senior Bowl: 5 Players who improved stock
By Joe Schiller
With the 2018 Senior Bowl officially over, here’s a look at five players who improved their stock heading into the NFL draft.
5. Josh Allen
All the hype surrounded Josh Allen heading into the Senior Bowl. He took the risk accepting an invite and being subjected to the view of media, scouts and every NFL personnel but it paid off by the end of the week.
Allen’s practice week was a rollercoaster ride. There were some accuracy issues but it’s clear this kid can sling the football. Even the top receivers had a tough time hauling in passes because they were thrown so hard. That got better throughout the week and at 6’5″, Allen perfectly fits the mold of a prototypical pocket passer in the NFL. His production wasn’t up to par from what we saw in 2016 but that comes with playing at Wyoming. Allen was finally surrounded by NFL-caliber talent at the Senior Bowl and it showed.
Where Allen really made his money was in the second half of the Senior Bowl game. He came out and led the North team on two straight touchdown drives. Both touchdowns came off fantastic throws by Allen as he showed touch and power on the ball. Game situations are where it matters the most and that’s exactly what teams will like to see.
Given his build and arm talent, it’s hard to see Allen falling out of the top five picks with his potential.
