3. Michael Gallup

The Senior Bowl proved to be a positive week for day-two NFL wide receiver prospects and Colorado State’s Michael Gallup was one of the beneficiaries. After amassing 2,685 receiving yard and 21 touchdowns in two seasons at Colorado State, Gallup translated that success on to the practice field in Mobile.

Gallup was a standout the week, consistently beating opposing quarterbacks with ease. For a 6’1″ wide receiver close to 200 pounds, Gallup showed a quick burst off the line of scrimmage and showed precise route-running. It doesn’t matter how athletic a player can be if they can’t run routes they won’t last at the next level.

While I wasn’t there in person, plenty of media personnel raved about Gallup’s performance at the Senior Bowl and he’ll quickly begin to rise up draft boards. He’s been compared to an Anquan Boldin-type talent and that’s high praise. Gallup was a ball-catching machine his senior season and finished with 100 receptions. If his strong hands can translate to the next level, Gallup can have similar success to Boldin

Wide receiver is always a top priority for NFL teams in the draft and Gallup could be a second or third round target. A solid combine performance could boost his stock even further come April.
