The NBA All-Star team draft was not televised to the public; to keep the process under wraps and protect the feelings of players. Since the selection process is still new, the mystery of the draft helps bring intrigue to not only the fans but the players eligible for selection. The two All-Star game captains, LeBron James and Steph Curry revealed their picks this past Thursday which brought excitement around the league. Players such as Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis made James team, while James Harden and Joel Embiid made Curry’s. But there has been speculation on which order the players were picked. Just as in pick-up sports, whoever is picked first is usually regarded as the best talent available. Fortunately, famed NBA journalist Jackie MacMullen provided insight into the picks 1-9.

One key selection made by LeBron James was his third pick, Kyrie Irving. The two had a glorious run, but bitter split with Irving requesting a trade out of Cleveland last summer. Despite the split, James says picking Irving was easy. Besides, you don’t have to go out for Starbucks with someone just because they are your teammate.

"“Kyrie was available on the draft board, he’s one of the best point guards we have in our league,” James said. “It was an easy choice for me.”"
