The Super Bowl has evolved into a lot more than just the game itself as the week is jam packed with events for the fans.

The Super Bowl has turned into one giant week of celebrating football and it now resembles more of a circus up until kickoff. It’s a lot of fun for those lucky enough to attend the full week as there is always something to do or something to see. The festivities kick off on Saturday with the opening of the Super Bowl Live event which will offer free activities and experiences for the entire week. That will run all the way through Sunday, February 4th.

In conjunction with the Live event, the NFL will host the Super Bowl Experience which offers activities such as a 40-yard dash against real NFL players (on LED screens). It will also feature a display of enhanced Super Bowl rings and an NFL Draft set. Monday will see the Super Bowl opening night take place which will be the first chance to see the coaches and players from each squad. Team cheerleaders and mascots will also be on hand to help kickoff the week.

One event most people look forward to is media day, which is Wednesday. This almost always features at least one player popping off at the mouth and saying something he shouldn’t. Without media day, we would have never been gifted one of the quotes of all time from running back Marshawn Lynch, “I’m just here so I won’ get fined.” That’s a phrase that can be used in plenty of situations and there should be at least one or two great quotes from this year. Just don’t expect much from coach Bill Belichick other than “The game is on Sunday.”

There will also be other events including charity events Thursday and Friday and then will include a Super Bowl Breakfast on Saturday morning. The breakfast will hand out the Bart Starr award and will include an appearance from Tony Dungy. Even though it won’t be a public event, the NFL honors will be awarded on Saturday as well. They will be televised that evening on NBC at 9pm.

Fans have a buffet of events to choose from for the entire week leading up to the kickoff of the biggest game of the year. The NFL takes its fair share of shots through the year but should be able to win some goodwill during this week. Fans shouldn’t leave Minnesota disappointed.
