WWE Royal Rumble 2018 review: What we learned, takeaways, future projections

RAW Tag Team Championship Match
Jason Jordan & Seth Rollins (c) vs. Sheamus & Cesaro
What we learned: With Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan losing the titles, we learned here that this rivalry with Sheamus and Cesaro may not be over just yet. However, with how things played out, there’s a lot more going on here.
I actually feel sorry for these guys. The decision to put the Men’s Royal Rumble right in the middle of the show was an interesting one ,and had it been a bad match, it might have been okay for the match on right after it. However, the Royal Rumble was fantastic and the crowd was absolutely drained for this RAW Tag Team Championship Match. Or perhaps they were just tired of seeing these four in the ring again. The match itself wasn’t great but the story that they told actually was.
Early on, Jason Jordan was yanked off the apron by Cesaro and thrown into the ringpost, which basically took him out of the match as he sold a concussion. That left Seth Rollins to fend for himself against The Bar, and while he got plenty of offense in, some of which was great, he couldn’t keep up. He had also just spent 25 minutes in the Rumble match and just didn’t have enough.
Jordan would eventually get back up and get tagged into the match. However, feeling he was still unable to compete, he tagged right back out, which obviously upset Rollins, who took a Brogue Kick from Sheamus as The Bar finished him off and reclaimed the gold. Again, it’s not that this was a bad match, but outside of the story with Jordan and Rollins, it was definitely the weakest of the night.
What’s next: A rematch is likely coming at some point when Jordan “recovers” from his injury, which will likely lead to the big breakup between he and Rollins that we all know is coming. Jordan can blame Rollins for the loss and they can have it out while Sheamus and Cesaro can move on to new challengers down the road that will likely lead to a match on the kickoff show at WrestleMania.
