Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly close to joining MLS’ Los Angeles Galaxy.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the most iconic figures in soccer. The Swedish forward has provided many highlight reel goals in over his career, which has seen him play for some of the biggest clubs across Europe, including AC Milan, Paris Saint-German, Barcelona and Manchester United.

He scored 27 goals in 45 appearances for United last season, before being sidelined with a knee injury. United release then re-signed Ibrahimovic over the summer, but there haven’t been many opportunities for him this season, and with the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, his days at Old Trafford appear to be numbered.

His next destination could be MLS. ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle reports that a long-rumored move to the Los Angeles Galaxy is nearly complete. The Galaxy are no strangers to bringing in big name players.

Next: Kamara's fit with LA Galaxy

They kicked off MLS’ designate player era by signing David Beckham and have bought the likes of Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrard and Robbie Keane in the years since. Ibrahimovic is 36 years old and coming off a serious injury, but he showed last season with United that he’s still capable of contributing at a high level.

The move would be beneficial for the Galaxy, even if their recent signing, Ola Kamara, plays in a similar role. Ibrahimovic has shown in the past he can play with other forwards — most notably Edinson Cavani at PSG — and his playmaking ability will make him a creative asset as well as a goalscorer.
