Only one point separates Southampton and Brighton ahead of their game at St. Mary’s Stadium on Wednesday. The Saints are in the relegation zone, sitting in 18th place with 22 points. The Seagulls are 16th in the Premier League with 23 points.

Southampton have not won a game since beating Everton on Nov. 26. In the 11 games since their last win, the Saints have picked up six points, dropping into the relegation zone. Southampton are in the bottom eight of the league in both goals and goal allowed. Charlie Austin leads the club with six goals but might not be able to play against Brighton thanks to a hamstring injury. If Austin is unavailable, Manolo Gabbiadini or Shane Long will likely start in his place.

Brighton have struggled lately, picking up only two points in their last five games. Over their last five games, the Seagulls scored only two goals, failing to score in four games. Only Swansea have scored fewer goals than Brighton’s 17 goals this season. Glenn Murray and Pascal Groß have combined to score 10 of the Seagulls’ 17 goals and will continue to be the focal point of their attack. Defensively, Brighton’s 33 goals allowed are middle of the Premier League but the Seagulls have struggled over their last three games, allowing eight goals.
