Milwaukee Bucks are interested in Malik Monk
By Tre LyDay
Malik Monk was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2017 draft, and not even a full season into his rookie year he could be traded elsewhere.
The Charlotte Hornets have struggled to say the least this season. A couple years after making the playoffs, they haven’t really gotten better. They’re paying a lot of money to players that probably shouldn’t be making the amount they’re making, and now the team has a decision to make — blow it up and start over; or just stay the course and see if they can figure it out.
There have already been rumors about the Hornets possibly trading their point guard Kemba Walker, and now it seems the Milwaukee Bucks might be interested in trading for their first-round pick. The Bucks have reportedly contacted the Charlotte Hornets about Malik Monk.
Monk would be a nice fit for a team that’s 22nd in the NBA in 3-point shooting. The Hornets front office is reportedly split on whether they should keep Monk or not. This season has definitely been a struggle for him shooting only 33 percent from the floor, and only playing about 12 minutes per game. The best game he’s had in his young career was against the Bucks back on Nov. 1 when he torched them for 25 points while hitting four 3s.
Part of the reason Monk hasn’t been getting much playing time is because of defense. The Hornets are 10th in the league in defensive efficiency so they’re a fairly good defensive team, but if they’re not going to play the No. 11 overall pick then they need to figure something out.

The Bucks would probably have to send a player and a pick to get Monk away from the Hornets. That would be worth it though both in the short term and the long term.
