Von Miller believes quarterback Kirk Cousins is the right man for the job in the Mile High City.

This past season was very unusual for John Elway’s Denver Broncos. They finished with a dismal record of 5-11, which is the first time Denver has finished under .500 since the 2010 campaign when they ended up 4-12. One constant was their stout defense, but horrid quarterback play finally did them in and Von Miller knows it.

Division rival Kansas City created shockwaves throughout the league after trading Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins. By making such a move, Kirk Cousins will now be seeking a new home.

Miller hopes it’s in Denver, and he wasn’t shy about saying it on the Dan Patrick Show.

"“We need Kirk. I would like to have Kirk. We have great quarterbacks now. Kirk could take us over the edge.”"

Prior to the season, many expected Denver to compete for the AFC West crown. After all, the Broncos have won the division five times over the last seven seasons. Unfortunately, Denver wasn’t able to overcome poor quarterback play this time around.

As the league continues to be more quarterback-driven each year, it’s becoming vital to have someone capable of making big throws when it matters most.

Well, that’s if you want to compete for a championship, and there’s no secret Miller wants another ring.

"“I’ve talked to him before. He knows exactly how I feel … and what he would mean to our team, and what he would mean to a lot of teams,” Miller said."

For whatever reason, the Redskins refused to commit to Cousins long term despite his 81 touchdown passes over the past three seasons, which is 20 more than Smith has thrown during that span.

Many believe the Broncos are a quarterback away from being back in title contention, and it’s hard to argue that. Look at what the Jaguars did this year with Blake Bortles under center.

If Elway lands Cousins, watch out.
