Inter Milan and Crotone are at opposite ends of the Serie A table ahead of their game on Saturday at the San Siro. Crotone are 17th in Serie A, two points above the relegation zone. Inter are fourth in the table, battling Lazio and Roma for the final Champions League spots.
Inter Milan have not won since Dec. 3, when they were first in Serie A. Since then, Inter have failed to win their past seven games. Inter have drawn four consecutive games and five of their last seven games. Luciano Spalletti’s side have played themselves out of the Serie A title race, falling 12 points behind Juventus and 13 points behind Napoli. After a blazing start to the season, Mauro Icardi has cooled off significantly. Icardi scored 16 goals in the first 15 games of the season but has scored only twice in his last seven games. If Inter are going to finish in the top four, they need Icardi and Ivan Perisic to start scoring again. Icardi and Perisic have scored 25 of Inter’s 37 goals but like Icardi, Perisic has not scored in the past seven games.
Crotone were able to pick up four points in their last two games to move out of the relegation zone after losing three straight games. On the road this season, Crotone have lost eight of 11 games, capturing only seven of a possible 33 points. In addition to struggling away from home, Crotone have struggled to score goals and prevent goals. The Sharks have scored 17 goals, the fourth fewest in Serie A. Ante Budimir and Marcello Trotta have combined to score seven of the club’s 17 goals. Defensively, Crotone have allowed 39 goals over the first 22 games of the season, the fourth most in Serie A.
